Installing a continuous remote monitoring
System on the jFK bridge

ITI Research Engineer Daniel Marron works on the JFK Bridge in Louisville, Kentucky

This month, members of the ITI Research Engineering Group built, tested, and deployed an advanced Internet-enabled structural instrumentation system on the John F. Kennedy Memorial Bridge which carries Interstate 65 over the Ohio River at Lousiville, Kentucky. The system will record live strain and a number of other physical phenomenon in the bridge support system. Using the data collected by this system, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will be able to anaylze the effectiveness of a recent structural retrofit to the bridge. Launch Photos.
