Semyon Vaynman is a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. During his quarter century of research experience his interests have included development of steels, alloys, composites; fracture and fatigue of materials; chemical kinetics and electrochemistry; and development of polymer-electrolyte batteries. His Institute research has involved development of low-carbon high-strength high-performance steel requiring simplified processing based on copper precipitation hardening.
