Infrastructure Technology Institute

Institute activities

The construction of a bridge in Lake Villa, IL using NUCu Steel developed by ITI Researchers Morris Fine and Semyon Vaynman.

Northwestern’s ITI is committed to solving transportation infrastructure
problems through advances in research, deployment of new technologies, and
development of advanced materials. We partner with public and private entities to accomplish this mission.

The Institute is also active in transportation and infrastructure education at all levels from elementary school to Ph.D. studies, as well as professional development.

Transportation policy discussion at the local, regional, and national levels is important to ITI. The Institute Director and sponsored faculty are frequently consulted by public and private transportation and infrastructure agencies, including the Chicago Transit Authority and the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority. The Institute sponsors several annual symposia on transportation issues.
