About the conference

The Acoustic Emission Working Group (AEWG) is a non-profit organization created and run to promote discussion and discourse in the field of Acoustic Emission (AE). The primary forum for discussion is the AEWG meeting, currently held annually. This website is for the 52nd Meeting of AEWG in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, October 19 - 21, 2009.

 

Call for Papers
Deadline august 31, 2009

The AEWG is inviting submission of titles and abstracts for the presentations at the meeting and early registrations. In addition to the program outlined below, since the meeting is a workshop, time is allocated to impromptu or late submissions at the meeting. Topics to be discussed at the meeting will cover all the areas of acoustic emission testing, including but not limited to:

• Material fracture and fatigue failure mechanism
• Infrastructure health monitoring
• Geosciences and rock mechanics
• Orthopedics and biomechanics
• Manufacturing monitoring
• Diagnostics techniques and procedures
• Codes and standards development
• Instrumentation

Abstract Submissions shall include the paper's title, authors, and abstract of 300-500 words. Please submit all abstracts to Daniel R. Marron, the Technical
Program Chair.

 

 

 

 

Student Award

Eligibility:
Any current or recent (within one year) university or college student

Submission Entry:
An extended abstract up to 3 pages in length, including all text, tables and figures. To be submitted electronically
as PDF.

Submission Process:
Include title of paper, your name, academic facility, name of professor associated and/or familiar with the work, as you would like them to appear if you attend the next conference.

Submission Deadline for Extended Abstracts for Student Award: August 31, 2009

You should receive a return message that your entry has been received within 3 days. If not, please resend. Entries will be judged by the AEWG Student Paper Award Committee.

Some Award Criteria:

• Originality
• Explanation of the objective and challenges
• Clear, concise description of techniques and instrumentation
• Description of data analysis including filtering
• The results
• Conclusion(s)
• Effectiveness of methods used
• Knowledge of existing and relevant AE Background
• Usefulness and/or relevance to an AE audience in the spirit of a working group

Award:
A cash prize of $300 for the first place paper principal author, in person, and a free Conference registration.
