There is much excitement and controversy about the prospects for high speed rail (HSR) across America and particularly in Illinois.  This conference will bring together policy makers and technical experts to explore HSR from a variety of viewpoints.  The objective is not advocacy but understanding of options, their benefits, costs, and uncertainties.  The intent is to explore and elucidate, rather than to recommend or decide. To promote discussion, the symposium will be organized around a series of topical panels.
